Affectionately known as 'The Horti' the Society is mentioned in local history books as far back as 1906.

Traditionally these societies were set up to promote competition amongst local gardeners, share knowledge and provide a sociable way of meeting other local people with an interest in gardening. These themes are still at the core of 'The Horti' today.
