NEWSLETTERS

Members met up to enjoy a visit to the Village Gardens at Direlton in June on a fine sunny afternoon. The selection of gardens was varied in both size and style and quite inspirational. Traditional afternoon teas were enjoyed in the village hall. This event was organised under Scotland's Garden Scheme which supports a wide range of charities.
Our Annual Picnic took place on Sunday 12th July in the walled garden at Preston Hall, by kind permission of Will and Henrietta Callander. The weather was glorious and members enjoyed a peaceful wander among the beautiful flower borders and a picnic on the terrace beside the glass house.
In August members enjoyed a visit to a cottage garden at Tynebank, where Jo shared her very pretty garden with several members. This was followed by a visit to neighbouring Currie Lee, by Crichton. The threatening rain held off as our hosts explained the development of this wonderful garden with it's many varied and unusual trees and plants. The Robertsons made us very welcome and we enjoyed tea on their beautiful terrace.
The 74th Annual Flower Show will take place in the Community Hall, Main Street, Pathhead on Saturday 29th August 2-4 pm with prizes presented by George Anderson from Beechgrove Garden. There will be Teas available this year as well as the ever popular Tombola!
